“Representation is not a luxury—it is a lifeline. It’s how we heal, how we grow, and how we ensure that future generations will see themselves reflected in the stories they consume. Bulletproof is an act of resilience, of pride, and of defiance.”

In Bulletproof: A Lesbian’s Guide to Surviving the Plot, filmmaker Regan Latimer takes a humorous, insightful, and deeply personal look at queer representation on television and the power of media to shape how we see ourselves.
Witty, fast-paced and laced with pop culture references, Latimer journeys across North America and beyond in her quest to understand the forces that influence the stories we see on our screens.
Original animation and personal anecdotes are interwoven with wide-ranging conversations with television insiders, LGBTQ+ community advocates and people who just love to watch TV.
As Latimer navigates an ever-evolving media landscape, the filmmaker learns first hand that representation done well has the power to transform.
Bulletproof features candid conversations with actors, writers, producers, and commentators such as Katherine Barrell (Wynonna Earp, Workin’ Moms), Noelle Carbone (Rookie Blue, Saving Hope), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (The 100, The Witcher), JP Larocque (Sort Of, Jann), Michelle Mama (Canada’s Drag Race), Aaron Martin (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Slasher), and Ali Liebert (Bomb Girls). The film also draws on insights from showrunner Michael MacLennan (Queer As Folk, The Fosters), Jill Golick (President, Writers Guild of Canada), Anne Creighton (President, Toronto Pflag), media psychologist Dr. Aiden Hirshfield, and Megan Townsend, Director of Research at GLAAD.
